Hello from the second monthly edition of Read Alouds, Ranked!
This is the place where I share everything I read aloud in the library this month, and my reflections on each book’s strengths and shortcomings as a read aloud.
If you long for more in-depth dicussions of picture books on the internet, or if you just want a stack of really great picture books every month, this post is for you.
I aspire to always read aloud books that will hit for my readers, but I am a perpetual student of kids as readers. Inevitably, I have some duds along the way. As such, today’s lineup includes a dozen titles that I heartily recommend as read alouds and two that I won’t be repeating but am happy to have in my collection for my readers to discover independently.
Note that I am not providing plot setup in these blurbs. Rather, the focus here is on read aloud-ability in the context of group read alouds (as distinct from 1:1 read alouds between a parent and child).
